A Few Words from the President

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior:
In 1995, it was my wife, Sue's,
and my blessing to accept the position of missionary for the
Fellowship of Christian Firefighters, International. Sue also
serves as editor of our newsletter and I serve as the president of
FCFI. At that time we also moved the office to our home to cut our
overhead.
What a blessing it is to see
how, God continues to bless many in the fire service including
firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and dispatchers ―
through the fellowship, encouragement, and prayer available
through FCFI.

The Fellowship of
Christian Firefighters began in the Denver area in the early 1970s,
when two Christian firefighters, having a Bible study on Hebrews
10:24-25, saw the importance and need for Christian firefighters to
support and encourage one another in their daily walk. That Bible
study led to monthly meetings of concerned and interested
firefighters. In 1977, the Lord used a conversation between two
firefighters, Duncan Wilkie of the Denver Fire Department, and Ron
Melott, formerly of the Portland, Oregon Fire Department, to show the
need for such a fellowship on a national basis. Because of their
conversation and the interest shown nationally, the pilot group,
also including Bob Crum and John Barker, organized the
Fellowship of Christian Firefighters, International: a nonprofit,
nondenominational organization, incorporated in Denver in 1977.

The
FCFI Purpose
The FCFI Purpose
includes glorifying God in the fire
service, fellowshipping together for individual growth in the
Christian life, serving the cause of Christ through the church of
one's own choice, encouraging those in the fire service in their
Christian life, sharing locally in planned fellowship meetings,
individual contact, and prayer, bringing all Christians in the fire
service to a common goal of praying for the fire service and its
members, sharing on an international basis through an annual
international conference, having contact internationally with fellow
Christian firefighters and the caring for firefighters in times of
need. Individual chapters and members share Christ’s love in the fire
service and their communities in many other and varied ways. Please
feel free to contact me for more information.

The
FCFI Vision
The FCFI Vision
is “That I may know him and the power
of his resurrection,” (Philippians 3:10). The FCF Mission is
to take the vision to the fire service community by Evangelism,
Empowerment, and Encouragement.
For information on our statement of
faith please refer to statement of faith on the homepage.
Our international newsletter, The
Encourager, is mailed out to members six times a year. Members
also received a pin, patch, and decals as well as an opportunity to
fellowship with other members across the county. An International
prayer chain lifts up members daily as requests are received via
e-mail or phone.
I have been blessed by my involvement
in FCFI and I know you will be too. Again, please feel free to
